At April 7 sitting, the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs debated the package of the bills on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Tax Code and on Making Addenda to the RA Law on Income Tax authored by the deputies of My Step Faction Babken Tunyan and Artak Manukyan in the first reading. The Chair of the Standing Committee Babken Tunyan has noted that the aim of the bill is to regulate the system of income tax return in the amount of interest paid for servicing a mortgage loan.

The Government did not endorse the bills. The RA Deputy Minister of Finance Arman Poghosyan has stated that the adoption of the bills does not stem from the main directions and priorities of the announced economic policy and their application will result in various problems in case of the adoption.

There were pro and con opinions during the debate. The debate of the bill was postponed up to two months by Babken Tunyan’s proposal.
